Fourth of July weekend in AR

This year we decided to make our annual trip to Arkansas over the July 4th weekend.  We loaded in the car Tuesday afternoon, dropped Lucy and Linus at Papa and Gram's and we were on our way!  We made it to Salina, KS and then woke up Wednesday morning for the rest or our drive.  We arrived in Arkansas and the girls were immediately in Grandma and Grandpa's pool!

Ready for the long drive on Wednesday!

The day was the fourth!  We grilled at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  The girls spent more time in the pool!  Then we showered up and got ready to go downtown for fireworks!

COUSINS!

The next day we headed out to cross over The Big Dam Bridge that goes across the Arkansas River.  It was hot and long, but we were troopers and made it to the end.  Then we went to visit Virgina and then back to the house for pizza and of course, pool!   Once it was dark, the girls did some fireworks with Uncle Scott.  They were very excited!

We made it!

Saturday was our last day in Little Rock.  We spent the day hanging out, swimming and having fun.  That night we had dinner out and then off to bed for our super long drive on Sunday (we always go straight through going home!)

Pinterest Headboard!

I wanted a headboard for the basement bedroom, but really did not have a ton of walkway room at the end of the bed, so I looked to Pinterest and found a great idea!

I started with five 1 x 6 boards and had Brian cut them down to the width of the bed.  Home Depot actually had beetle kill pine wood that was even grooved to be interlocking.  Perfect!

I did two coats of stain.  I choose Espresso.  No sanding or anything!

Then we hung them on the wall using Command Strips that are made to hold 16 lbs.  Seriously, so easy!

Voila!

Just a crazy story about the bedding.  I had my eye on a duvet cover set from Ikea that was white with lots of green, gold and red.  My friend Amy headed to Ikea with me and when she saw the bedding, she told me it was not my style and we needed to keep looking (love my honest friend!!)  So on we went.  I found the duvet you see the end of the bed.  As we kept looking around, we saw the brown bedding you see and thought it would look so pretty layered on the bed, so in the cart it went.   I was so excited!  Then we went to get the kids some ice cream and I told her what I was doing for my headboard and pulled up a picture on my pinterest.  Here is the picture:

Yes, I seriously, had unknowingly picked the same bedding!!!  No where does it say the bedding is from Ikea, nor had I really paid much attention to it as I was mostly concerned with the headboard.  So crazy!!

VBS

This year I volunteered to be a guide for VBS with Audra for the kindie class.  So fun!  Nora was in my class!  The kids practiced all week to sing at church on Sunday.  Nora and Clara did a great job!  Next year, all three will be in it!

Dance Recital!

Nora and Lila had their dance recital!  So cute!!  I have LOVED the moms in both classes.  I was kinda sad it was over.  Luckily, Lila's class will stay together for the most part, so I have another year with these lovely moms.
Both girls did great and Clara loved watching her little sisters dance on stage!

Before the recital started!

Lila's class danced to "Every Girl Can Be a Princess"

Nora's class danced to "I Want Candy"
